Professional Background

Dr. Rona M. Fields, author of several books and an internationally recognized authority, has been a practicing clinical psychologist in the DC Metropolitan area since 1977.  She has been affiliated with Montgomery County Public Schools as an administrative psychologist developing the program for compliance with PL94-142 and the LEAA.

Her practice in Alexandria included developing programs of psychological services for  the courts, the correctional center as well as families and individuals in her office.

In the District of Columbia she was the team psychologist on an interdisciplinary clinical team that evaluated and treated children and their families, children  who have special needs, youngsters in the juvenile justice system, and adults and geriatric patients.

She has been a member the faculty and a Senior Research Fellow at George Washington University, Howard University, George Mason University and several universities abroad. Her publications include six books, many book chapters and professional and mainstream publications and multimedia productions. She is a Past President of the District of Columbia Psychological Association and a Fellow of the American Psychological Association. She is a  licensed Clinical Psychologist in the District of Columbia and Virginia and serves on several insurance company panels.
